Gabriel Fernandez is an associate focusing his practice on maritime defense, commercial litigation, personal injury, and insurance defense. He represents clients in Florida, federal, and administrative courts as well as in international arbitrations. Before joining the firm, Mr. Fernandez handled over 300 insurance defense cases on topics relating to first and third party coverage, water and wind damage, mold, fraud, vandalism, and bad faith. He also assisted various insurance carriers with fraud-related investigations pertinent to the carriers’ coverage decisions.
Mr. Fernandez was born and raised in Miami, Florida, where he graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 2004. Mr. Fernandez attended The University of Chicago and received a B.A. in Public Policy with a specialization in Sociology in 2008. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Mr. Fernandez was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and The University of Chicago football team. As a member of the football team, he was a four-year starter at outside linebacker, three-time selection to the UAA All-Conference Team, voted Team MVP as a senior, and he became the first-ever University of Chicago football player to garner UAA All-Conference Rookie of the Year accolades.
Mr. Fernandez earned his J.D. from the Florida International University College of Law in 2011. While in law school, he distinguished himself by earning the Book Award for Remedies and volunteering as a football coach at Tamiami Park and Christopher Columbus High School.
